Epicurean
gone but--- look what exposed (see below). Earlier I had said this was the
wall of next building – not so |
|
·
Cracks in
the walls now that Epicurean gone ·
Ice rink pollutes
Hays Creek? (Who cares?) ·
Many Seniors
‘excluded’ from using ‘their’ gym equipment by stairs ·
Airport
ferry boondoggles etc |
|
|
Here is the
real wall – and look at the cracks |
|
Rumour
is that one of the reasons BC Liquor store moved out of here years ago was
the building was then settling – so they sold and left |
|
Structurally
compromised? – Even if not the rain water sill now easily enter wall boarding
etc |
Look at all those
cracks |
|
Much of Second Avenue have street level buildings 20-40 feet above the real level of land – I hear building on left was on pilings and presumably sinking – While Coast Hotel built right down to bedrock
|
|
|
Just look the
other way |
|
A few weeks ago I
noticed lots of discoloration in Hays Creek at McBride – following back to
source of brownish color could see it was coming from Civic Center Property
--- being the Good Citizen that I am (or busy body according to some City
Staff), I went into tell the Civic Center --- A worker came out to see – but
knew exactly what was going on once we approached the site--- ‘That is just
the ‘paint’ from the ice rink --- totally harmless’. |
|
|
I
have photos where discolouring the full stream a little farther down – but
don’t show as well |
|
|
Presumably coming
from drainage tiles that are obscured by the bushes --- Presumably the ice
from Skating Rink put out in back parking lot where melts and goes into
drainage systems ---Paint helps ice look whiter etc I was told |
|
See my previous page for backgrounder –
seems many local Seniors unable to climb these stairs to use the equipment
--- When I looked in recently equipment being used by healthy young men ----
Seniors need a lift? |
Healthy
Heart gym equipment and Seniors |
|
|
|
|
Dentists have
lifts/ elevator chairs so Seniors and disabled can get into their offices |
|
This
is from local dentist’s entrance – Problem would be (other than the expenses)
to have a chair lift that could not be tampered with by kids etc --- several
easy solutions like making it key operated – or staff operated etc |
|
A lift was
costed out previously for the Civic Center building --- Walls could be opened
to gain access to pool etc |
Seniors often
can’t negotiated stairs in Civic Center either – one woman almost cried when
no longer able to use the kilns etc – located upstairs (I was told) |
|
|
|
|
Airport
Ferry --- how much are we losing as subsidise staff/ greeters etc? |
|
As I said before –
the charge for ‘greeters’ was treated as
a typo by Dan Rodin and eliminated --- (shades of 5M$ logic error) ---
but City Taxpayers still pay for every person that boards the bus to Airport
--- I will try to update our current losses --- see my previous for background etc |
|
|
Invasive
Raspberry bush |
|
Out
by the Camp Ground along road --- still flowering and loaded with berries –
but look to be seedy and non palatable --- none ripe yet --- still having
edible berries instead of salmonberries along roadways and vacant city owned
properties might be a good project – if only find both a good grower
(locally) and good tasting |

|
Near the
hospital – more later |
From Council
we see 500T$ re-siding etc |
|
|
|
This
is the old Extra Foods site in Mall – said to have been here since 1994 so
still needs some cleaning before can leave it ---But no one seems to know
about lease for sure – end of month? End of Year? Years? So the strike goes
on.
|
Empty
Buildings |
|
PRDN
now vacant – was the building special built for PRDN? Looks to have been |
|
|
More Boondoggles
|
|
Presumably
this is the tarp meant to cover the Dump over in Haida Gwaii (QCIs) --- They
are using Gas Tax $$ from province and
arguing the (and links end of page) tarp justifies the use of this
dedicated $$ -- but don’t mention they did not have Reserves to close dump as
required – so claim ‘enhanced benefit etc See
my earlier – links at bottom page etc |
