We See

The Epicurean come down

·        Making Audits as useless as recent Budgets

·        Testing hypothesis ‘over-paid staff’

·        Kinney’s question

·        Epicurean’s final day in pictures

How much do we subsidize the Airport Ferry?? Especially by not increasing Fares (typing errors)

Mere taxpayers need not know – all is well – Ask Dan Rodin

Before looking at staff wages, here the ongoing saga of Rodin & company dumbing down ‘accountability’

See this years discussion Fares

And 2007 Budget where dumbing down began

And here is a 2007 comparison Budgets (good old days)

This is from the Dumbed down 2009 Audit

Now compare the detail with 2008 audit below

Note the Airport Ferry is here along with other more detailed info ---

Earlier I was carping about Rupert having overpaid staff etc – The City administration would counter that have too few people doing too many jobs – and that staff paid comparable to other cities etc ---- But mere taxpayers can not test either hypothesis as too little info given

There was a time when Council at least was kept up to date --- I was told Council would give the CAO a figure, say 40T$ for managerial staff increases ---- then they would see (in camera) what each of the raises were etc

But those were good old days before Rodin and company

So I thought to look in the SOFI documents to see if total staff Remuneration available

The 2009 matches for total wages and benefits (note several retirement settlements skew the results for 2009) --- But I can’t make the 2008 results from SOFI jibe with 2009 audit (as below)

You see what I mean? Taxpayers should just keep quiet and pay the bills

This is from 2009 Audit – who knows where they got the figures

Nelson Kinney’s question

Brought some (unintended) humor to the meeting – Kinney noted the sign gone directing traffic (especially those big trucks and campers etc) to turn left to proceed out to BC and Alaskan Ferries etc --- so we get all kinds of trucks etc driving up 2nd, going over the bridge into Section 2 etc --- Solution is to have Province replace the signs lost in previous winter storms --- Joy quipped something like she thought that was part of Tourist promotion to give tours around Section 2 etc

Picking on Street Beautification

Sometime earlier I commented how about 5+ City Crew and their vehicles working on this ‘garden’ area --- But to be fair – they planted a perennial that will now need very little upkeep and still looks good

Following the demolition of Epicurean

note some of the metals were separated out (yellow arrow)

Almost done here

Previously we had been told that Worksafe BC said they could not take the heavy equipment on the pad because a sub basement (in part)

But either they ignored the ‘instructions’ or found some way to make the site safe because backhoe worked throughout the site

Stairs at black arrow

I like the silhouette of the staircase left ‘scorched’ into the side of the next building – like a visible memory of things past

Ending on a happier note
