Cruise ship day

Didn’t clear up this time

Time to re-think ‘our’ Cruise Ship presentation of Rupert?

·        A good fog

·        No one goes down 3rd Ave

·        We See

·        Trucks

·        We Hear – PRDN

Usually the sun comes out as the cruise ship arriving – but not this time

BUT – it was a ‘good fog’ --- brought on by long period of clear weather --- and today chased away by rain showers

So all those kids pointing directions were not needed as 10 mile visibility

Still, I suggest it is time Rupert rethinks what we are offering cruise ship passengers --- or we will lose the last one stopping here

Farmers’ market doesn’t seem to be working at Court House --- and certainly 3rd Avenue is seeing very few tourists

Image left during ‘height’ of cruise ship passenger walk arounds

Cow Bay area doing well for numbers

This fellow takes over the sidewalk – here his umbrella corner right at eye height --- but City won’t do anything (but pay the lawsuits)

Lots of cameras – here trying to capture an eagle on bluff behind Cow Bay

Who pays for the Bus??

I saw about 6-8 people on this bus --- a photo op for the Charles Hays statue --- and I see the crew ‘hanging out’ at free internet connections – a few of them did have a coffee purchased at this store on their table – again a lost opportunity

STX Begonia was here for Wheat

Backpackers housing goes up scale

I hear that all these rooms are more apartments than simple bedrooms --- things like wheelchair access etc --- And that 2nd story is not an apartment but the upstairs of the caretakers lodging – I am told parking (4-5 spaces) not yet worked out – presumably enough room in front where those scaffolding stacked

We See Around town – a neat way to paint the hard to reach areas (left)

Now where is that leak? – City uses high tech equipment to detect water leaks --- but I was told this is one of rare times that it did not work --- next look will be about where sign is though further onto road

We See --- PRDN presses etc now gone from the building – taken away in a semi

We hear that Chad and will be going to Northern View and Monica will also be doing some stories for them ---While Baker is still looking at his options

These trucks  are more set up for going into malls – which I suspect have replaced small town stores across BC

As I said earlier – delivery areas need to be re-thought as larger and larger trucks being used

We See – Pillsbury house getting new roof

Mussallem was trying to sell this property – and rumours are he is intent on selling SQCRD building – now I wonder who has to pay for the re-roofing (need I ask?)

Dr Judith Williams at Museum to lecture on her book

I have previously reviewed this book back in 2007 ---- I will do an update from the lecture Monday
