Obviously an
Intense fire |
|
People
told me that at least one man had to be rescued – he looked like he was going
to have to jump from a window – but first responders talked him into waiting
until a fire truck and ladder arrived – perhaps at the cut away awning in
picture below ---- fire was intense and helped by open windows that funnelled
through building – thus image right |
|
See my
earlier where drunks hanging
out here |
2 Scenarios |
|
One
was that started in an apartment – but this image from back of building seems
to argue that most intense fire was from below – thus floor fallen through –
plus burn on wall seems to come from below and not as above from a window ---
this spot is where winos hang out and drink all night -- |

Airport
Ferry increases |
|
Hawkair
etc as well as some of the workers used for security etc came to Council Budget
meeting to both ask questions about imminent fare increases and express
concern at the offered ‘solutions’ (bring your own vehicle and car pool) See
Below and this weekend for more |
|
|
Here is the latest
version after it was realized that HST not applicable to city run ferry
service |
|
Instead
of the original 20$ passenger fee it became 18$ (one way) Question
from airlines was who was going to collect these fares – especially as one airline
does not issue tickets – In short term looks like the bus operator will and
not the Airlines/ baggage handlers etc |
|
See my
previous – here 2002 when present
system started And Here for
longer view of Airport
subsidy – more later |
What about employees?
|
|
More later – but as
I understand the answer given the fee schedule is set up to have the airport employees
car pool rather than ride the FarWest Bus. Presently costing the City 9$ per
bus passenger which means City paying airport employee costs – that was
‘deal’ when bus fares became part of air fare ticket --- More later |
