Here
staff tries to get the Islanders on Conference Call line --- Councillor Garon
stood (sat) in for Kinney who had previous engagement to Emcee Seniors’ Dance
I
was told every other month Islanders would phone in instead of coming over
(no Hospital meetings in Terrace etc) --- both to save $$$ and GHG emissions |
|
|
About
a dozen citizens showed up and were the only real ‘interest’ of the meeting as
the agenda was pretty ‘old stuff’ |
|
Citizen
Questions (agenda changed from ‘Citizen Input’ to ‘Questions’) – which
implies a subtle change in philosophy from equals to subordinates |
|
|
-----
Group marked 1 had questions
about the Budget – Did it meet the Ministries ‘dispensation’ for ISWAC to
remain unbalanced for previous years – but others (Administration w 60T$
deficit) still not be balanced?? – More later Jean Martin (2) was
present to talk abut potential closings of Recycling Facility on Saturdays
(its busiest day) as were the
executive of the PR Environmental Society – |

and ISWAC fees |

Given
final readings – no discussion how/ if the 250$/ residential and Commercial
unit would balance budget etc |
|
|
|
|
Worrisome
that no mention of potential volume usages--- does a suite in a residential
unit cost no more? Does
a large business like a fish processor pay same rate as a corner store? |
|
|
And while the
‘pick up’ fee upped 2$ per month – no mention of how many bags allowed before
2$ per bag sets in |
|
More
worrisome is the ‘obvious’ error where typo not detected --- fish waste at
25$ per centimetre? Presumably
a volume metric implied |

Seems
like numerous applications will follow for the same aggregate located in Tasu

When I went by after the SQCRD meeting ‘the speeches’ were beginning I was told by a young woman fighting back tears --- Walking farther I came across these cut flowers – which seemed to me to be symbolic of this young being with all its potential future selves now cut off – See PRDN story
