Most the
directors attended by phone |
|
A complex file The regional
District was given permission to run a deficit by Order in Council – though
they had to balance the current year – the Order was given after 4PM the day
of meeting etc I will return
again tomorrow to this file |
|
More Later
on unadvertised meetings etc |
Small
meeting with more onlookers than Directors present |
|
I took the picture of
the cars because several people have seen ‘meetings’ in past week that were
not advertised – in fact I came by and took a picture of the cars one night –
Legal and pay implications |

|
I don’t understand
the fine print but 2010 Administration (Exhibit 1) and Sandspit Water
(Exhibit 17) now balance -- the QC Landfill remains (460T$) in debt from
previous years – But note the Landfill Closure (Exhibit 22) --- More later |
Local
Government Act – 815.11 |
|
Making the current
Financial plan for the year 2010 balance and dealing with previous deficits
at later date |

|
|
Left is from
Administration (Exhibit 1) |
|
Note the large Tax
increase for this function – with Rupert alone paying 111T$ more – But Grants
have been cut back dramatically from previous year On Positive side charging
more for Administering the different files (billing dump, etc) here
increasing by over 100T$. Directors have held back by keeping
salaries constant and reducing travel etc. Unfortunately not the same for
Rural Area directors – but they pay for the increased Remuneration on Travel
out of their own tax requisition |

|
MIMC
= Moresby Island Management Committee |
|
|
I
will go into more detail later – but a new residential/ commercial levy of
250$/ unit/ year will generate about 46T$ more income though I note the
Parcel Tax reduced by 10T$ and a MIMC ‘transfer’ of $24,990 --- will have to
see where MIMC got its money as I don’t see them with a budget sheet |
|
More later |
Waste
Management fees upped by 2$/ month per unit which = about 25T$ and the Tax
requisition going up about 22T$ -- The 2 1st Nation villages are
to pay about 58T$ more in 2010 |

Meeting 6-9 pm
at Highliner on Wednesday |
|
By the time I
arrived the meeting was in ‘break out discussions’ mode --- a summary was
done and online forms are available for those that want input but were not
able to attend meeting (link supplied later to the PDF) --- What was most
interesting was Des Nobles and Joy Thorkelson presented an alternative view
to how local communities should be represented – more later PNCIMA on WWW

We See
|
|
Supposedly
this is the site of a future Wine and beer sale outlet – we have been here
before and the site at Fiver Corners did not pan out which was rumoured to also
be a beer and Wine store by same developer |
