Council Meeting – part 1

Another ‘wasted’ meeting --- Why are these people so ‘irrelevant’?

Twinning Cities from 2 to 4

Cities fit for kids?
And Feb 2010 events in PR

Ho Hum

Now how do you say Aichi?

Seems the province ‘gave’ the city 50T$ in April 2008 – but not used it yet so extended to 2010

Gordon Payne asked ‘how did we re-establish contact in August 2009?’

Turns out Nellie Cheng (back to photo above) had called them on telephone then etc

More later

Short intro to Cangzhou with map Hebei province and Wikipedia has good image of Changzhou’s famous thousand year old ‘Iron Lion’ sculpture

Howie does most the explanations

Presumably he has been on vacation so little has been done in his absence

Anna Ashley speaks to 2010 Celebration

More later – but looking for volunteers and even food vendors --- this PPT was on the screen during the meeting – and details given during Council Reports towards end of meeting

To Consider or enable – one staff or Councillor to go to this meeting

Unfortunately – debate over this question was the ‘highlight’ of the meeting – More later

In some BC municipalities http://www.health.gov.bc.ca/pandemic/local.html

the ‘emergency preparedness program being used to co-ordinate responses to ‘Swine Flu’ – if and when the outbreak might happen---more later – but Council had to ‘consider’ sending someone to a conference in Langley – maybe and will leave swine flu to the experts etc – more later
