We See

So who owns pulp mill lands?

See my earlier: ‘who owns pulp mill

The good news is that City owns Lot 2 – Sun Wave still owns Lot 4 (red hatching)--- it remains unclear (to me) who owns Water Lot referred to as Lot 3 by City – the 2008 Tax sale for roll #9000438 listed Lots 2,5 & AM1( my earlier) Whatever, it does mean city should be able to negotiate water access to property

City and Contracting out – Watson Island & Carpentry

As stated earlier, it seems PPWC watchmen out at pulp mill were fired when PR took over Watson Island and new people put out there--- speculation that this might have been done to ‘assist’ the next purchaser --- but it could backfire if the City retains ownership very long as I bet CUPE will want to have the ‘guards’ belong to their union

I mentioned also before that contractors were building the curbs as a left – turns out when City got rid of its carpenters it was agreed that all future carpentry would be done by local Union shops --- thus the framing for pouring the concrete etc ‘contracted out’ to local Union companies

Speaking of sidewalks, water and concrete

Notice left how the rains affect the concrete—b at left is protected by an awning while a is subject to downpours etc – which is slowly eroding away the concrete --- in the zone between a microscopic green algae finds habitat (green arrow)

Note above how apparently water pipe broken inside this car wash (the sound drew my attention) --- If ‘we’ as a City metered our water to commercial customers (some we do but not all) then it would be the owners problem as his bill would rise very quickly --- City will have to rethink ‘free’ water with climate change

One of the upsides of present economy is allows ‘us’ to remove some of the more decrepit housing in town

Almost like some prehistoric monster chomping up a house in some horror flick

Thursday evening’s clearing skies led to spectacular fall colors as at cliffs and skate park practically vibrate color --- unfortunately the same clear skies brought in the fog today

Clearing Skies & vibrant colors

Liability Issues??

More on this later --- but this area should be better signed --- both instructing people how to use apparatus – and who shouldn’t etc—(there are small signs that no one reads on each machine)

But more importantly there should be a general statement that if one uses equipment one does at ones own risk etc – as sign at skateboard park

See earlier where cost questioned
