We See

Ships to SQCRD and City Council

Big Ship parks outside Mariners’ Park

Presumably the Eastern Star was here to load Canola

City Crews replacing Bricks

At the time they told me that ‘responding to complaints’ – thus levelling off sidewalk or where the substrate had sunk too far had to replace the bricks after adding substrate --- Note this is classical ‘Slip and Fall’ type lawsuit stuff

Bricks and Law Suits

Below are similar ‘perils farther down the street (red arrow) --- I was told the places where bricks had broken (as at yellow arrows left) were not a problem as could be filled in with asphalt or concrete etc to remove the  ‘hole’

According to Census, Dodge Cove has a population of 42 which is 1/1000 of SQCRD population but received 67% of the Gas Tax in 2009 – Go figure

Gas Tax Dodge Cove Water

Gas Tax is interesting as paid on a per capita basis to Electoral Areas – presumably received $223,896 in 2009 at 53$ per capita that = approximately 4,200 people which are predominantly First Nations (see my previous)

I have argued before that the coming of the Gas Tax revenue led to change in behaviour at SQCRD --- Suddenly the Electoral Areas were having their own meetings with minutes etc – this lasted up until the last election

This is from BC Stats on SQCRD

As can be seen 41% of the SQCRD population is First Nations --- Pity there is not a more formal role played at the Regional District level ---- especially when the Gas Tax $$ to Electoral Areas is predominantly First Nations population but they see none of the money for their qualifying projects

Ditto NTI Grants etc

Shopping Carts thrown out all over town – a dozen along here

H1N1 Clinics

Here is the Northern Health page for Prince Rupert which as this date has essentially the info on the poster at left for

Rupert Square Mall-Upper level

500 2nd Ave. West

And for 19th

 Prince Rupert Health Unit at

300 3rd Ave W

Sale finally announced

But it will take 500 bucks to read the particulars

Plus we see our old friend Doug Jay now CAO at Stewart

Here is my first ref to Mr Jay in July 2007

And here I note his disappearance almost exactly a year later 2008

Clean Up Rupert style

I see ‘Civic Pride’ willing to help clean up the down town – now if only could work on Wantage Road

More later
