On Development Permit Areas and Zoning

Consultants presentation Tuesday evening

While over 500 written invitations sent out – not many people actually showed up – though good presentations and some audience participation

See the City Web site for PRDN articles etc and relevant documents on the Development Permit Areas – and the new zoning bylaw review page

Development Permit areas --- good 3.6 meg brochure on City Site

Accepting Cow bay as a success want to apply same tools to downtown – thus prescribing look etc – more later

Zoning Bylaw Review needs attention too

While at meeting said want to simplify --- this is still a complex map – I will return to it later – here I have shown Section 2 --- the blue arrow shows an undeveloped lane and the red an undeveloped (‘Alpine’) street ---- most this area being used by present adjacent land owners as ‘their’ property --- more later

The zoning maps for whole city on web as 4 meg PDF from this page --- black is present and red is proposed zoning

Atlin Terminal parking will interesting to watch

At Council meeting said it was a hard decision to even pave it as meant to be sold as a development lot ---- present intent is for Tourist parking during the summer and thus charge fee to keep locals from parking all day there --- fee only from 9-5 PM and presumably street parking still free – more later

Replacing water valve

But locally the water was almost mud after the valve replaced --- City later flushed lines and suggested running water in tub to clear out the dirty water and get back into fresh and chlorinated water

Replacing valve bridge to Section 2

On left is the old valve before removed --- and above is what it looked like after replacement and City crew left for the day

Spruce buds opening

Spring advancing rapidly now --- note the bursting green bud ---- and this tree also damaged by disease (branches lower middle) – more later
