Council Meeting

Preliminary look

First City Council meeting that I ever walked out of ---but after 10 minutes of Mussallem’s ‘Report’ on his recent travels --- I could take it no longer --- and just left --- call it a silent protest against inanity

While we heard lots about SE Alaska from Mussallem – no one asked anything about the Audit

I will return to this later --- As Audit provides a consistent method of comparing year to year results – plus as I mentioned yesterday – there is a small matter of a 20M$ debt forgiven by City to CityWest --- but no comments from Council etc

Note Sheila’s bike helmet – Joy Thorkelson also had her helmet – but I saw no bikes parked out doors

5 year financial plan and tax rate given final readings too

Item provided only public dissent heard recently as Sheila Gordon Payne could not vote in favour – but others defend as see Sun Wave taxes as ‘backed by land’ etc – more later

Shwatlans Road rezoning & OCP changes

Slide is misleading as only the narrow strip now being rezoned to Industrial

Public Meeting Comments

Calvin Thompson spoke to this motion where he suggested land best left as Residential with future development in mind – more later

Selling street to a property owner

No wonder some Councillors were perplexed—the drawing is not very useful – and next meeting will include an aerial photo of the area so get some idea about what being discussed

And Atlin parking got a few words of dissent from Garon – More later
