March 25th

Spring like day

(until it clouded over)

Along with these bright flowers at their peak performance --- I noticed the good old Skunk Cabbage peaking through see my previous on ‘Skunk Cabbage’

Derelict garage deemed a hazard

And underlines the question I asked at meeting – which was ignored

Demolition ordered --- 30 days

Note these property line projections upon aerial photos can be off by many feet when compared with actual survey

True it looks derelict – and perhaps represents a hazard if it would ever start burning

-- Note first not especially close to any building – presumably fire chief acting upon a complaint by a neighbour --- but also note does not appear to be on property – most of building appears to be on city lane way (white arrow) --- But the main point is what if building on City property – who does it legally belong to? –Could City be liable for expense tearing it down etc

There is also the question of undeveloped Lanes – at periods in past if property owner approached city they would sell owner ˝ the lane – and if ‘neighbor’ did not want the other half could buy it too – more later

Treating Citizens equally?

Which brings me back to the question of ‘Boulevards’ – or the land between city street and the actual property boundaries --- at my house on order of 17 feet --- note this car is parked on boulevard – City property – or more generally – public property --- I was questioning at Council where one fellow ordered to remove a pile of wood from his ‘boulevard’ by City --- the point of my question was if you force him to remove his wood – then what about this car? --- But question ignored --- I suggest (without going to a lawsuit)—there are ‘solutions’ --- like selling off the land to the property owner for say 100$ plus legal transactions etc – more later

Illegal Burning?? Doesn’t one need a permit?

When I went to see who was doing this burning – looked to me like it was a City Crew trimming along Moresby Pond trail

A Bylaw officer told me that if I complained to Fire Department --- that the smoke was bothersome etc – that ‘maybe’ even a City worker could be fined --- -- But probably doing what he was instructed to do ---- there are 2 points here --- Like the above examples it looks like rules are there to be ignored – or enforced only if/ when a ‘complaint’ made by some ‘important’ person (not mere plebes like us—more later)

The 2nd point is that the air is assumed to be a free dump site – even by the City

More on Equality & Boulevards – and Dumps later
