March 23rd

Council Meeting

Mayor Mussallem absent – stuck out at Port Simpson

Because COW (Committee of the Whole) – allow speakers – thus more interesting – a Green Evening

Northern Health speaker was sick and could not attend

Bike to Work

Justice and Cuthbert gave the presentation --- along with reducing Carbon footprint – there is Safety first & foremost – Bike Sense is a safety manual that will be handed out – but also present on the internet

More of presentation later

But First there was Earth Hour

Emily Rudderham was on a tight time schedule – the municipal application had to be in by midnight tonight --- duly passed and presumably e-mail sent by H Koning

Also of note – the newly appointed replacement for Koning was in attendance

Robert Grodecki getting a peak at what the job entails

Probably main Action of night was condemning the Innlander

As stated before – needed an inspection for asbestos etc before Rudman proceed to tear down the building – presumably deadlines not met so City chose to declare a Nuisance and Hazard and the owner required to remove or demolish within 30 days – more later

And speaking of Fires

Ocean Center Mall was burning Monday afternoon --- when I passed by the fire alarms still ringing – I was told a fire started in the ‘shops’ downstairs – some material close by a heater ignited – presumably quickly extinguished but the building had to remain evacuated until lall the smoke cleared etc

WWF gave talk on its role in community and PNCIMA

More later --- See PNCIMA documents page
