We See

Innlander plywood blew down in storm – but Ivan came around and put it back up --- within an hour

I see the City and Port Ed are advertising for an Economic Development officer – Closing date March 31st – there was talk before of ‘sharing’ the position with SQCRD or one of the local 1st nations groups

Landfill on QC’s is advertising for a new manager – closes March 23rd

I also hear that planning to either compost the fish plant offal – or perhaps a new dump – talk of burning waste – using the heat and generating electricity – time will tell

This map from here http://www.pncima.org/about.html

For just the marine parts see here:

Mussallem and PNCIMA

In Mayor’s Report Monday, Jack went into his rant about PNCIMA, how the province was not part of it etc – but that might change soon with interesting repercussions --- take the map at left—usually only the marine sections is identified as PNCIMA – but if/ when the province signs on to the process then it will include the watersheds too --- so not only will Regional Districts with coastal shores be ‘eligible’ for inclusion in process – but all those interior regional districts too – should be interesting

I also see 3-5 spp of diving ducks along this stretch

Spring blooms coming soon

This is a marine outfall I followed over spring bloom a couple years ago – presently only one side is responding to ‘spring’ – all that green is Prasiola – which is a perennial and prefers late winter etc  --- see my earlier for summary + links

Good to have the Rains back – more later as Drought has ended and back to rain forest
