We See

As at many recent Council meetings Joy Thorkelson seems to be the best prepared – both with questions and having read the documents
Thus Monday she spotted a potential typo where ‘Heritage Building’ not carried into the new designation for C1 zoning of old CN station --- Zeno said not intention of document that lose Heritage status

We note too in passing that a new (permanent) Corporate Administrator named – so Helen Koning will be leaving this month – more later

Rezoning CN station

The public meeting allows ‘mere citizens’ to speak so I took the opportunity to address the CN RR crossing between Bill Murray Way and the old Via Station ---

My main point was ‘what is the status of the crossing?’ – the one farther down where 11th street comes onto CN property seems to be saying ‘you cross at your own risk’ as it is a ‘Private Crossing’ --- so what is the status of the one leading to CN Via station?

Answer seems to be that ‘discussions have taken place and everything is OK’ – but that still does not address the question of liability etc – I note in passing Department of Highways said similar that ‘access’ questions had to be solved

CN crossings

Evening PR – 3rd Ave

The setting sun casts a strong light on 3rd Avenue buildings --- note in the sky high Cirrus clouds beginning to cover the celestial dome – presumably leading edge of a system coming in off the Pacific Ocean --- drought should be over – though might get some snow before the rains come back --- I am told this was not the record – one summer 1957? ’58? Was so little rain for 3 months that was afraid have to shut down the pulp mill as town running out of water – extraordinary steps taken – Diana Lake etc

Shot earlier in day

Cirrus not invading the sky yet here --- but the scene is so Prince Rupert – in the foreground CN tracks and ‘containers’ cars --- then crab pots waiting the spring opening --- the Pilot boat passing back to berth – and a wheat freighter sits in harbour

We See --- Cow bay Floats

Looks like the crew putting some sort of flotation on the one finger of dock – the other has new timbers around sides etc
