Old Restaurant upgrading?

Now if only next door would do same

·        Atlin Terminal Parking

·        Other agenda items – Bylaw officer and Tsimshian Access

·        We see – Water problems

·        More on Public Hearing – Parking and Accountability

Atlin Terminal Pay parking ‘key’ event of July 27th meeting

But it moved through the meeting with little fireworks ---

Garon in Mayor’s seat—so perhaps handicapped form being too boosterish of the No vote

And it was a potential close vote –with both Mussallem and Bedard absent and Ashley only present by telephone --- but hers was the deciding vote as came down to 3 for and 2 opposed to Atlin pay parking with 2 hours ‘free’ on street parking

Differs from Cities latest projections

How much revenue will it generate?

Seventy-eight thousand dollars is nice chunk of change --- Where will the monies go?  Not clear from meeting – The Rushbrook floats money goes into a dedicated parking improvement fund

And what about signage??

Below again from Boulevard study in Agenda PKG

Every study always comes back to poor signage around Rupert

Tourism

There is always the ‘other’ parking lot

It came up during the meeting what hours have to pay—Boulevard had suggested 9 AM –5PM (image left)  as was adopted by Council

Here labelled 2 --- and again from the Boulevard study – gets much less utilization

See my December 2007 file with numerous links to earlier parking issues

Ditto the September 2007 when Boulevard group in town

Other Business

More Agenda items later

Incumbent will be on leave until May 2010 thus this temporary replacement

--- Tsimshian Access grant application – could be very important if granted

Some question of Tobey Point suitability etc

Water Problems

-- Here City Crews clearing away the brush so the fire hydrants readily available

And more leaks

Light blue arrow is seepage seemingly from water pipe – darker arrow is presumably from above --- City crews were on site earlier in week --- looks like it is on land owners side of service – but judging by lawn upkeep might not quickly  be repaired

Public Hearing and accountability

Too bad Council would not follow Joy Thorkelson and ‘recess’ public hearing until September when community could have a fuller discussion of implications of this plan --- but it was suggested some business might be lurking on sidelines waiting for passage this Bylaw

Perhaps this business?

Which will now be considered Downtown Core

And ditto a ‘neighbourhood market’ down the street which will now be zoned C1 instead of C6

Figuring out how many parking spots to build is very complicated and never entered the Public discussion –

Parking and make believe

Thus if old Empress were redeveloped would consider the previous usage and ‘grandfather’ that many parking space

More later
