July 3rd

We See

Cruise ships to sporties

The sum below might include Airport contract – or not

The upcoming July 6th Council meeting will probably get little public attention –but the annual report is supposed to be one time Citizens can grill staff/ council on plans and achievements – maybe that is why chose July 6th?

Cruise Ships and 3rd Avenue

When I was downtown – 3rd Avenue was dead – but Cow Bay seemed bustling with passengers – even the trail out to Rushbrook was being used --- perhaps need review ‘farmers market’ concept etc on 3rd

While clean up might be welcomed – still the office was recently closed as even the lawyers can’t find enough business to stay in town

More businesses closing

Rushbrook seems to be doing well

Most the out of town vehicles appeared to have bought parking tickets and be displaying them in window – a few were not – but looks like B-Law officer had been by at least the day before --- But this truck remains even after ticket given – perhaps should be towed as I suspect will never pay – even the boat trailer had no licence plate on it

Review of ‘Parking Problem’ downtown as a special interests with links

It was good to see the DFO presence down on floats ‘inspecting’ sporties as they arrived back after day of fishing --- checking for licences and catch --- I was told these bags of fish were legal

Last year there was a ‘voluntary questionnaire’ – which numerous ‘highliners’ ignored --- now that DFO present they are more ‘co-operative’ – and I did not see the large number halibut as last year

Previous on Parking and fishers

An over view from 2007 with links of Rushbrook parking – now solved

And here when start up problems over meters with links etc

Here where Charter boat won’t answer any catch questions

Tsimshian Access Road needs more scrutiny – when looked at elarlier a road connection was seen as too expensive – in meantime Feds have paid for raods to Nisgaa villages --- but I suspect another model (>use and integration of ferries) is the better way to go post 2008 (more later)

Airport Ferry

A new manager being hired at Airport, a new committee in place – still I would argue the airport ferry needs serious attention – we practically give the airlines all the service they want – and hope the difference will be made up with increased number passengers – not likely after recession late 2008 set in

More later
