We See

Signs of spring

Shows up every spring to cut trees

What is distinctive is that it chops up the branches etc in the rig below – too bad City does not own such a rig (and use it)

While not shown here – the crocuses are blooming outside Raffles at 5 Corners

Another sign of spring

Someone broke the window in store below – soon all the shops will have the metal screens to protect them as at left

Water line breaks

A couple days ago the crews were trying to find out where the break was – had detected it in while doing maintenance – below the streets the manholes filled with water ---- so had to find where break was --- so here they found it and repaired Thursday afternoon

Following the Smoke

I had expected to find some homeowner burring trash

Perhaps this was the source

By the time I got there – found just a small unattended fire – presumably from salmon berry bushes cut down

I was told by an official that the City Crews were cutting and burning up here all afternoon --- one hopes not --- this fire was left unattended --- plus what about those permits to burn etc??

These 60 foot trucks around town going up alleys etc

Plus there was one at Overwaitea about the same time

There should be some sort of Bylaw that trucks over a certain length are not allowed into these alleys etc

But no we are more worried about routing the ports containers down Wantage Road and thus off our downtown streets

Highway of Tears

This would be a better site for the ‘Highway of Tears’ sign than out at Oliver Lake – by then a female hitch hiker would already have gotten a ride --- an note the Fish Hatchery sign --- so precedent set fro signs ---

And what about the Civic Center replacing its sign for 10T$? – Something about an exclusivity contract with Pepsi – more later

Back to City Politics tomorrow
