We See around town

Off to the dump??

Looks like Innlander owner has a demolition company hired --- and the Agenda for Monday nights meeting says Ivan R will ask for an extension until May 15th to get the job finished – starting Monday

Council Meeting Monday night – agenda looks like it could be a long one

Log ship out in Harbour – about full

Is this the future for Rupert? Sure it provides some longshoremen jobs – but sending raw logs doesn’t seem like a good use of ‘our’ wood. But what then will be Rupert’s future? I suspect the tourism s in cruise ships and catering to ‘sports’ fishers is rather limited – more on sporties later – I suspect ‘they’ will deplete rockfish, halibut etc so badly that limited ‘future’

A better future would be to produce ‘power’ from perhaps the old pulp mill --- similar to Port Alice?? –more later

I hear the present fire alarm and sprinkler system more than adequate ---

New Acropolis Manor and the old one

Latter built in 1981 – and appears to be in too good of shape to just tear it down and make a parking lot of it --- what about meeting the present building code? --- Well if the use remains similar not need to upgrade – depends upon what else falls in B2 category – certainly residential – as in drug & alcohol – more later

We see

Sunday was one of those community clean up days – so all the ‘pitch in’ bags around on corners awaiting City pickup – Monday

Moresby Pond clean up

This is done by a conscientious citizen every year --- but others disagreed thinking that better left wild --- so he had to get a letter from City saying OK --- the idea was that he could cut down and remove all the salmonberries and alder – but had to leave the huckleberries etc plants --- from his perspective removing all that brush makes the walk ‘safer’ and more enjoyable for both the young and the elderly etc

Bus To PG and beyond

In some ways a odd idea – but I hear that say for a cancer patient that has to ride all the way to PG where arrives late in night – then has to rent a room – then get treatment, only to ride the bus again another 12 hours --- I hear that it was proving too hard on the patients and that the doctors were sending to Vancouver instead ---

Watching mountains

The grey arrow is a concentration of dead trees --- perhaps were cedar when alive --- we would have to walk up there and look at the soil profiles etc to see if it was mainly the terrain – or perhaps just a ‘disease’ outbreak

The yellow arrow also pointing to many dead trees at the same level --- again we would have to climb up there and look if there were a common denominator – be it species, disease, or type terrain etc – more later
