We See Around town

New BC Ferry looking like a cruise ship – CBC had good interviews about decommissioning Q of PR

A closer look at City Budget tomorrow

Quick look at spring

More later --- once I shovel the fresh snow off my walks

Spring Plankton Blooms in Hecate

arrow points to warmer water-- lighter color of blue-- associated with bloom—not clear at this scale but north side QCI water SST and bloom

2009 is a cold year and bloom does not look to be as far along as in 2008 --- but dubious comparisons from available images

Bloom looks farthest along of series

Skunk Cabbage

This is on McBride across from civic Center --- plants growing quickly now --- saw my first salmonberry flower along these cliffs on McBride

Actually same pool as from late March – slow growing so far

Which building did Kitkatla buy?

The side on right was former offices of Tsimshian Tribal Council --- and building on left was the former college – while museum in center

Hartley Bay fish camp

I was told there used to be a smoke house here (by boulder?) on corner by Civic Center --- must have been more salmon then going up Hays Creek --- too bad this part of our heritage ‘forgotten’ as PR celebrates 100 years – not the 5000+ years area occupied

Water leak from this driveway on 4th E

Broken pipe may be under the driveway

Broken pipes – big problem – What happens when ‘user pays’? – Can we allow water rates to increase when a one room suite pays same as 10 room ‘mansion?? More later

First there was the hail – then a snow shower --- But spring is really here --- grass growing, flowers blooming etc – more later
