Where the
wilderness begins?? |
|
|
|

Dr Paul
Kennedy makes an appearance |
|
He
came to question if Council had thought through the re-zoning from strip mall
to A1 amenities --- ‘Do you really want a ‘tire marshalling yard’? Joy
Thorkelson took up the idea when question came to a vote --- after much
discussion it was decided A1 would do until new zoning bylaws later in year
put in place |

Commodores
present and past speak to Council |
|
They
interpret all those Yachts passing through with no place to moor as a lost
business opportunity for the town – the number they gave actually shows
declining trend from 1500 in 2005 to half that in 2007 --- but they do point
out an important problem – but had no ‘easy answers’—Still much of the
meeting was discussing surrounding issues and I will return to this tomorrow |

Chief Ron
Miller needs permission to purchase/ or lease – new pumper truck |
|
While
only general details given to meeting the accompanying paperwork gives
details of the selection process etc --- I will return to this after see what
is available on internet --- while no price tag mentioned in ‘public’ the
paper work indicates 380T$ + taxes price range ---More later) |

Mr Jay still
‘missing’ |
|
I
was told he would be back by 26th a couple weeks ago --- Has he
been fired? Will he be? Will court cases follow? In
meantime ‘election officer’ goes out for bids rather than being done
‘in-house’ as was done in past --- Mr Jay thought the whole
thing could be done for 25T in his ‘premature’ submission --- I bet it will
be much more now ---- Gossip is that Michael Curnes – the fellow who hands out
free passes at Recreation Center – and asks for local charities to fund kids
that can’t afford admission price – Gossip is that that Michael Curnes has
replaced Mr Jay in short term – Qualifications? (See free passes above) more

No word on
‘Green Apple’ Presumably
done in-camera |
|
Image
left is sidewalk near the Innlander on 2nd – like the 3rd
Avenue corner where Green Apple located – the street and sidewalk are on
pilings etc well above ground level – and superficially this looks
potentially much more worrisome than Green Apple ever was --- but hey – it is

Joy
suggested PR fish plants in jeopardy because of a meeting June 10th
to discuss DFO management of Skeena River fishery – a report by 4 independent
scientists --- Thorkelson suggested they were ‘outsiders’ and ‘debate’ should
be framed as ‘jobs’ and ‘local knowledge’ vs ---‘tree huggers’ Anyways
Pond was delegated to attend meeting |
