Note Federal
Building (now City Hall) built in 1938 On this link I have the Koona totem poles coming to PR
in 1935 --- meant to be a tourist attraction |
|
(see my previous for--) My MistakeBruce Wishart
forwarded me an enlarged image from City Archives that clearly shows the
native reliefs were present in 1938 – those original reliefs were painted by
Jeffreys (father & daughter) when city redecorated building in 1964 ‘They are so
‘bad’ (unlike other Tsimshian or NW Coastal 1st Nations art work)
that glad to clear Jeffrey’s reputation |

Myles Moreau
had a good line |
|
Seems
the Federal candidate pictured left was in local THs going around hand shaking
etc --- When reached Myles table he quipped something like ‘that photo
doesn’t do you justice’ or some such. He was not referring to the campaign
poster image at left --- I was told red faced candidate soon left THs And
speaking of Myles he is off to Victoria Thursday for an operation. |

Buy Out??? |
|
Home
Hardware – many
stores across BC and Canada is said to be in process of buying out Philpott
Evitt ---- papers not signed yet I hear --- but present store will be closed
and a larger Home Hardware to take place --- the exiting HH will presumably
have to fend for itself

|
September 30th
– noon |
Sunny
Weather means roof work |
|
‘We’ve
done more roofs in September than all of July quipped the foreman – he says
that with the stuff below put on don’t need to have shingles --- if rain
catches them before finished
And below –
now that is the way to paint ones windows |

|
|
We see |
|
City
took advantage of the sunny dry weather to paint traffic white lines for
pedestrian crossing --- I took photo about dinner time – but someone did come
back and remove the red cones before dark |
|
|
And lots of
hunters around |
|
Caribou
antlers here --- but lots of off terrain vehicles around --- as this one |
|
|
City Hal and
FOI requests |
|
I
asked about a month ago to see some documents dealing with a street patio which
I suspect did not meet the guidelines of time --- plus I was hoping to see
how much ‘rent’ taxpayers got for allowing it on city property --- today I
was told more consultations were needed and it would be another 10 days at
least as key personnel out of town --- (the very person I had originally
given the FOI request to) Message delivered by L Miller who is now leaving PR
and a woman (not Tanalee) will be taking the position until later in year –
when Miller may (or may not) return --- but note he is a designated Municipal
election official |
