The Six
questions – cut from Concerned Citizens Press Release 10/22/08 |
For
full press release –
(I have converted their MS Word document to HTML) |

|
For the earlier Concerned Citizens ask Council --- and
the special Council meeting held
last week |
|
|
‘Council did
not follow its own policy’ |
|
When
I have pointed out infractions of City Bylaws such as enumerated in image on left–
I was told by Mr Howie that ‘City does not have to enforce its own bylaws’ So
why should they enforce their own ‘Policies’?? I ask rhetorically about the
Hesse contracting |
|
Council
is only forgiving the municipal taxes of the Museum portion of the building
(thought the notice in paper implies all the building) --- though they allow
businesses, liquor sales, rental accommodations etc in other tax forgiveness
buildings --- I point out here the complete building is a heritage site etc |

SQCRD and
Gas Taxes |
|
I
have previously mentioned the regional District
has broken itself into smaller sub-groups like the Rural electoral areas etc
--- I am told it was the use of Provincial Gas Tax rebate that was one of the
driving factors – presumably there is a formula decided every year by
province on a per capita basis Lets
say it is on the order of 95T$ for 5 thousand some population in 2008 ---
Thus Oona River wants to use its Area C Gas Tax fund to pay for the Oona
River Community Center refurbishments --- The irony of this is that most the
Rural population is presently in 1st Nation villages – thus
Hartley Bay and Kitkatla for Area C --- call it another form of Neo-Colonialism and see my earlier on Paddy Greene as using ‘code
words’ |
