Another Storm

Storm Front approaches QCIs- (upper right) with 34 foot waves at center 976 millibar low --- lower right

Take Back the Power – Presentation PR

Lots of good information upon potential rip off of both public money and lands --- Star attraction was Rafe Maier – I will go through the individual presentations later --- on the negative side --- seemed to be a pro NDP campaign rally rather than an information session at times ---- thus a ‘watershed election’ coming up provincially --- and kick the Campbell Liberals out and put in the NDP – who may or may not revoke IPP licenses to print $$

Exempting Utilities  from local Bylaws

Idea is that IPP (Independent Power Producers) fall under purview of Cabinet not municipal

Privatized Power producers (IPP)

And here is a Citizen Group warning about ‘clean energy’ sic etc – which should make Municipal councils worry

Staff to research this council’s achievements

It was one of those requests that sounded inappropriate just before an election – using staff time to list this councils achievements and what’s left undone

But dog manure on city streets etc – this council passed bylaw to make it illegal – but never got around to setting a fine for the offence --- for a while City was enforcing idea that dog owners must pick up after dog – a fine for not carrying the bag around --- but fine never implemented

Has to be passed by end of October --- while the inclusion of the Moose generated some discussion about what measuring stick was being used --- still it seemed pretty hit and miss (arbitrary) --- thus Museum bookstore etc excluded from going tax free – but Moose sells liquor to public etc was acceptable --- go figure

Tax exemption

Better illustration than original

This rezoning was put off until next meeting

I did not see the image left in the original package – it visualizes the question I asked at the public input part of the meeting – the land being sold to D&N Seafood covers 2 roads (suburban streets)  etc that were planned for the area --- it is the road on the right side of image that I had hoped we would hear how its loss was inconsequential to future development because---- (see map on Oct 14th page)
