Yesterday I predicted the gusting 45K winds
would be at 6AM by using the pressure and winds from W Dixon Entrance – but
the peak winds today at North Hecate were at a slightly different pressure
30.08 (see image below) vs 30.05. Still the timing guess ‘close’ at 9AM – and
the peak wind at
airport was 10AM (30.08)

Numerous
political ironies during meeting – thus after 20 die from Listeria
outbreak from huge Maple Leaf plant, while CFIA treats BC shellfish ‘farms’
with infinitely more scrutiny – demanding shellfish tests be done in CFIA
type lab while Maple Leaf sends in a form a couple times a month |
BioToxin has
AGM – The same board elected as last year except Ric Miller now replacing X
who has moved away |

Port’s
new harbour Master also attended meeting which allowed discussion of
potential invasive species from either ships ballast water or from organisms
carried on hull of ship --- several potential projects discussed --- example
using settling plates to monitor for invasive species within Harbour ---
Paulson mentioned that recreational divers should get permission from Port
before making dives – as a matter of safety etc --- more a formality as ‘we
have not refused anyone yet’ See

Morhart suggested her Tsimshian background – knowledge of proper protocol etc
would be useful within riding, example Phase 2 of the Port etc But
the most poignant interval of evening was when she used up her last rebuttal
time as a silent homage to those lost on ‘Highway of Tears’ – she implied
there had been another recent victim |
