Sewerage in PR

Note B F I & L are sanitary sewers

Computing the numbers in Sewage Plan report

Sanitary sewers presently 75% of total length and 80% total area --- (using the numbers in report as at right) but areas G & H downtown may have high volumes.

Note Sewer I has 40% total volume of flows according to report (but less than 1/3 the area)

Older parts of town w combined sewers

Surprisingly Area F (which appears to include the Mall (& Chances?)) is separated

Area B Sanitary

Area A will have to be somehow combined with B, but C might best be hooked up with ‘downtown’

J & K small areas

Area M may be on sceptic tanks as is the Alaskan Ferry etc

As stated above Area I and L are ‘newer’ parts of town and have separated sewers

Since L goes into harbour at depth 8 feet below low water its outfall must be in the Seal Cove area

My earlier ‘sewage’ material dating back a decade for last item

PR Sewage Treatment? Harbour System is complex (geography)
And in 2003 a good computer simulation published (story)
Here is an earlier study where 'Friends of Harbour' question outfalls
And a much earlier journalism article where 'disaster scenario' for dilution solution
