Council June 9th

Promises

Tsimshian pole for Mariners’ Park

The Tsimshian pole in Mariners park has lots of potential

The bid for conference – seems ‘dumb’

(see below)

And does Jimmy Pattison get federal $$ for not fishing his boats/ licenses ?

See below

1st modern memorial pole

Lots of interesting concepts here and I will return with more discussion later --- as with the ‘bid’ below – the money obligated here is not clear

105T$ plus for the pole??

Grant $ for park may help –

Later

No sign of Mr Jay

Curnes looks to be replacing Jay for time being – and the agenda had 3 of Curnes’ Recreation items on it

The permission to bid seemed routine – but should be a siren call to lack of Council oversight --- or attention?

Curnes’ Request #1

Does this make

$$$ Sense??

Council approves unseen----- Not to prepare a bid but to submit a bid

Same Council that just back from ‘vacation’ in Quebec City ---
5 of 7 went ---Cost?? --- but hey, we ‘outvoted’ Vancouver etc

At meeting this was only expense mentioned – 10T$

But the paperwork – shows City opened up to much larger liability --- relies upon obtaining corporate sponsors etc

Fishers looking at abysmal season in 2008 ---- they are requesting $$ not to fish

I will come back to this another day

Interesting concept – and all Council is doing is sending a letter of support for some unspecified relief for all BC fishers – as done in 1998 – and then costing 10M$

I’ll return to this later

Interesting ideas

But is Council showing ‘due diligence’?
