Cold snap ending?

Plus another look at SQCRD

SQCRD tends to divide into those from QCIs and those from municipal mainland

The rural group (Area A, C, D, & E) formed a relatively coherent group last term – but yet to coalesce since a new member for Area D on Charlottes

If all the Charlottes vote together (5 votes) then takes everyone else to just tie them

See my previous for selling SQCRD building & its petroglyph rock)

Why was Pages elected so easily?

I had heard talk that it was time to elect someone else, but that did not happen. The election for Chair of the Regional Hospital District preceded Board vote– and in that Mussallem nominated Nelson Kinney, and Pages was nominated to run against Kinney. And he won (ballots were destroyed and totals not given).

From then on the flow of the meeting was set – the Charlottes vote together --- and unless 2 Rupert + Port Ed + 2 rural vote as one – then Charlottes take elections --- Just to be sure when Mussallem ran for Chair of SQCRD both Pages and Nobles were nominated and neither withdrew. Thus Pages won.

I suspect there was a backlash against Mussallem as it is feared he will sell the current SQCRD building as promised during his Mayoralty election

* is for missing data

Precipitation for December – Graphs from this page at EC

___ are periods of no precipitation (often clear cold day) --- 2006 most total precip at 260—also warmest

Heating Days (18C – Mean temperature of the day) --- thus clear days are colder

___ periods of no precipitation (above) tend to be high ‘heating days’ thus period first week December 2007 and 12th thru 22nd  in 2008 had no precipitation and 20-25 ‘heating day’ units

Again 1st week Dec ’07 and 12th – 22nd in 2008

Mean temperatures December  ___ periods below zero for daily mean

Water level

Not unsurprisingly – Kloyia reflects the rainfall locally while Upriver at Usk shows little correlation

Precip at PR Airport – vs discharge at Usk & Kloyia

Discharge At

Usk & Kloyia

Black arrow indicates dry July

2005 at Kloyia reflects December 4th 2005 precip at YPR; 2006 Kloyia reflects Dec 13th and 2007 captures the little rainfall first week December
