Spectacular Fire

10th Street near Beach pl

Fire ball hundreds of feet in air

  RavenTalk August 20th

I hear man wife and baby in house but woken up by something in basement – able to get out before the fire too severe and subsequent ‘explosion’ – happened ca 11 PM on Tuesday night

So who is Lonnie Miller?

Presumably he will be around until the election in October (as Council appointed him, Dan Rodin and Tanya Ostrom to run the next municipal election

One would expect some sort of explanation from City Council—but none was offered

A search shows a Lonnie Miller was CAO in Tumbler Ridge earlier in year until ‘dismissed without cause’--- see item 9 on this page for more detail

Broken windows and Curfews

Perhaps because Cote and Gordon Payne were absent from meeting there was no mention of the downtown late night problems --- as you might remember Mayor Pond was ‘sure’ a youth curfew would not withstand a ‘charter challenge’ --- but alas that challenge has yet to be made and numerous jurisdictions have youth curfews – here is Ontario example that illustrates potential problems etc

We See

I am  told most the sporties came up empty Wednesday --- seems the big tide which lasted almost all day ruined the fishing

The main worry now from DFO perspective is whether the Pinks and Chums will show up this year at all – a good run of Chinooks highlight season along with Skeena Sockeye run

Here is an Alaskan article where they too are bemoaning the absence of fish this year, which the article attributes to effects of global warming – note too the parasite in Chinook salmon – again from warm waters
