Council Meeting

Productive meeting

   Pond was absent

Joy Thorkelson sat in for him as Mayor

Both Kinney and Gordon-Payne had good evenings too

Before the discussion part of meeting had to get thorough the business

Buildings & Rec reports will be dealt with here

-- Annual Financial Info – and Dog Bylaw will be dealt with tomorrow

Meat & Potatoes

511 Cotton – again

Dealt with in previous meeting Council but now a New Owner who chooses to fix foundation etc w estimated costs 40T$ -- Council passes ‘Nuisance’ but if owner returns with Engineers report on foundation’s ‘fixability’ before next meeting then will reconsider demolition order

(City photo modified– meant to illustrate poor condition – note sloping roof to left blue arrow – and mold etc green arrow

5th Ave E Variance

House sets at back of lot --- but due to oddities of streets (arrow right) – will be the ‘front’ entrance’ – need variance as too close to property line (insufficient set back)

New entry too close to property line

Recreation Dept: Measuring Up & >ice time

1

Advocacy group applauding initiative (see Gov backgrounder) to make sustainable cities include inclusiveness (accessibility)

2

Extending Ice time one month (August) supported by Figure Skating and Minor Hockey Assoc. with added cost of $63240.60 to be taken out of Rec Budget

And later will deal with the Skateboards & sidewalks – which was main ‘debate’ of meeting
