Good Council meeting

Surprisingly so

Agenda looked dull but

Both Mayor Herb Pond and Councillor Kinney had good evenings

Fire Chief Miller was in to give a ‘behind the scenes’ review of how city emergency preparation etc kept Skeena R flooding from severely impacting PR

-- see below

Bad Karma? – Briglio was center of ‘attention’ --- handled it well

While his face was ashen throughout the meeting --- he still was able to participate and effectively

Probably goes beyond ‘Prince Rumour’ as too many witnesses to doubt details as given on hacking mainframe blog site Briglio episode

Should he resign if found guilty?

As I will show elsewhere he was the one behind firing Janet Beil (along with Masset and QC City reps)  – and after the allegations proved false --- fired her because lacked ‘confidence of Board’

Tobias, student from Hamburg Germany will be ‘observing’ how PR municipal government works 1st of June till 13th

Behind the Scenes

Chief Miller gave a day by day account – showing Council and audience that Emergency Prep worked well – probably most informative was how difficult it was to get the oil companies to barge up fuel --- times have changed and Rupert no longer has storage capacity –and fuel companies are not interested in liability etc issues of marine transport --- all agree Robert Stromdahl of Petro Can was the main reason the barges showed up at all --- this prompted Council to ask how to better prepare ‘next time’ --- suggestion was to change the provincial legislation: thus removing liability etc

Ashen face – contrast w smiles

Gordon Howie’s report was that derelict cars was ‘success’ – crushed 755 and still hundreds left but will have to wait for another barge trip to remove them

Chinese Booty

Presented to City by a visiting Chinese delegation here to look at the new ‘container port’
