Council mtg
Feb 12th

Edwards ave sub division

Minimal meeting

Several housekeeping issues --- a ‘non-complying’ porch

More significantly a new subdivision (see below)

Plus Cote plays solo tune on opposition to ‘inner harbour’ logging
lots done in-camera – some of which ‘illegal’

(Image tomorrow of where Edward and Alfred streets are

New Subdivision – 11th East area

CIF Construction – Prince George based developer apparently approached city at Dec 11th in-camera meeting and City agreed to sell lands to them for a subdivision (63T$). City agreed and as part of the deal is doing the paper work of removing these undeveloped streets from OCP etc. This is a lengthy process involving much paperwork with province etc, so needs to be started even before lands officially sold.

Emergency planning

While the motion was required to pursue funds to upgrade Council chambers as EOC = Emergency Operations Center – the grant does not include capital funding but will allow design etc to be done

Cote as Environmentalist

Provided some of the wry humour for this meeting as he again opposed Metlakatla logging in city view scape across harbour – it came out during discussion that MOF gave council an (illegal?) in-camera discussion about its role in supervising logging etc (minimal under new era legislation?)
Cote seemed to want to start a public campaign against logging but no one else on Council seemed to want to go there
