KEYS & WWF clean-up Wantage Rd

Earth Day ‘celebration’

City provided 2 dumpsters & KEYS about 50 participants of all ages including MLA Gary Coons

(All images taken by either Eva Torn or Jennifer Rice)

Brooke Ward who is also a member of KEYS (Kaien Environmental Youth Society) has a good write up in Northern View April 25th issue

After this workout KEYS also put on “Be Aware Fair” at the college – which had posters, hands on kids projects and display tables

Images below try to convey the extent of the ‘refuse’ that had accumulated on Wantage Rd

It is almost a blemish on community that so many members treat ‘the commons’ with such disrespect as to dump their household waste

Eventually there is a ‘governance issue involved—why do we collectively allow it?

A blemish on Community spirit – that so many people use commons as a ‘dump’

Many hands

Gloves were provided and younger people were placed in areas that were determined to be ‘safe’ – no drug/ sex paraphernalia – no glass etc

Be Aware Fair”

Gordon Baumgarten had table of Environmental books – new and recycled
