Doesn’t look
bad at first |
Trial
almost impassable At either end
of trail damage is minimal – but don’t be fooled Some areas have
to go into bush/ side of cliff to get around Here are some
photos but needs aerial view to grasp full extent of dmage |
Still
looks do-able |
I
met a couple fellows coming out – both advised me they had turned back as the
trail was impassable – even dangerous Still
this did not look very bad |
CN
would have pruned these |
In
this stretch of trail most the downed trees were as shown here – relatively
young (<25 years) trees with very shallow roots – CN
would have known these trees were vulnerable and would have kept them pruned
or cut down at earlier stage |
This stretch is impassable |
This
is where ‘sane’ people turn back But
note the trees to left --- there is still a way around by going off the trail
--- the by-pass is steep in places and one could easily slide into water
below as little to hold onto – still someone has marked the path with tape –
a log boom area is below |
the
impassable stretch |
Someone
has marked a ‘by-pass’ trail --- note the log boom camp just below
And this is where getting ‘better’ |
Nature
of trees differs at this end – larger and terrain not so steep
Seal
Cove side |
Some
fellow had started to chain saw his way through --- but did not go much
farther along then here |
More
analysis later |
Views vs ‘Commons’
Here is
story from 2001 where the usual culprits were involved: people cutting trees
to get better view and destabilizing
slope – or here building deck |
