PR Lands in Seal Cove

City owns all that land

1) revise OCP 2) Buy Apex bldg

This is one of those files that demands more attention

Councillor Cote (who owns a warehouse in area and also works at seal cove aviation company) 1st brought to Councils attention – the response was to revisit the ‘community plan’ for area---

Now a secret meeting is deciding how much to pay owner(s) of Apex Marine building (city owns the land) – we will use it to shelter rock quarry equipment

Area is presumably ‘managed’ by Seal Cove committee appointed by city Council --- but they might not have met in years – no one seems to know

Lots of potential in area

There was even discussion in previous plans to dredge the inlet and build a marina--- (this is opposed by aviation companies who want it to remain  dedicated to float planes etc)

But there also seems to be good residential possibilities – as large areas of undeveloped lands plus one of few areas remaining accessible to shoreline in city (CN & Port have rest)

Preliminary Questions

Who is looking out for City interests?

Self Management

If city owns the land – and different aviation companies etc own their buildings – what were the conditions of original contracts?

How much rent are these businesses paying the city?

How often are the contracts re-negotiated?

Who does the committee (Seal Cove Society) report to
