Seal Cove & OCP

This page looks at what is there now

Important because may be best access to ocean by Rupertities

Presently a mix of marine and aviations uses – with rest storage

See the aerial photo end of  file for orientation

Councillor Cote brought up need to revisit ‘Seal Cove’ area in OCP

Another page will explore how last OCP saw that area as ‘developing’ in future

But most those developments never happened and the Cove looks pretty much like it did a decade ago

This float house being built to go up north

The fellow I saw building this (actually putting on siding) was from Terrace. The float is meant for ranger accommodations, etc on the Khutzemateen River provincial bear viewing Sanctuary ---a bear biologist will be using it for their research etc --- all special products like the siding and the wood etc had to be ordered special --- even the float was rebuilt

City owned Curling Rink +

Shares land with BC forestry marine site and now torn down CG housing area on point

Forestry & CG

Sea Cadets beside Curling Rink

Rent Free?

At least 3 temporary type buildings here --- I am told they paid rent/ leased but lately have had no $$ -- City donates about 4,400$/ year to them

Ware housing

Ken Cote has the large warehouse on left called

And Kello’s owns building on right – presumably also ware houses

Then Residential

With present down turn these apartments appear almost empty with several buildings windows boarded over

Aerial photo found on council chamber walls
