After a month
delay the work begins again Typical of
Rupert attitude? Rules are for
big cities—here we just use ‘common sense’ And common
sense tells us asbestos is harmless Or just fill in
numerous other ‘rules’ that are ignored here |

Danger to
Public? |
|
The
crux of matter is that Asbestos is legally a Hazardous
Waste and has to be treated with special precautions --- 2) Businesses
that try to save $$ by cutting costs may put public in danger --- thus before
WCB from Terrace showed up and stopped work on this project – dump trucks of
this material were taken to City dump to be burned – when refused and told
have to use more expensive facility (15$ vs 84$/ ton) I hear the operator
took the material to a local lake/ private property and burned it there. Then
WCB showed up --- now we see correct disposal and transport procedures being
followed |

Asbestos is
no problem Oh ya? |
Asbestos as epidemic |
|
Agreed
US more litigious – but also more slack in past --- here is advocacy site with
good information from casual to workplace exposure and illnesses that follow
often only visible after a decade --- but as specific to asbestos once
diagnosed it is only matter of finding out where the exposure took place, Here
is a Canadian advocacy site with
links |

Innocent
Bystanders |
Bystander Exposure |
|
Originally
intended to describe how workers family contracted the disease – or people
living near a work site etc ---- but in case of contractors burning
demolition waste at local dumps (Rules and regulations are for wimps?) then
we are all bystanders (but the contractor saved $$) Here
is an excellent
site that covers all the asbestos and disease topics on one site – legal
orientation |
