Line has
been painted over w black paint |
|
Councillor Kinney brought the matter to
City Council attention—a citizen fined ($300??) for parking on yellow line in
Cow Bay --- the line in question was an old bus stop that
no longer used – but the yellow line still there--- ‘Everyone parked there’ --- but seems
a ‘new’ RCMP officer
took the line literally and gave a ticket |

I’ll post

Mail Truck
is OK |
|
This
semi-trailer parked here every day for most of June – City Staff tracked it
down and found out it was only the mail – (and not a local cannery etc) – so they
decided to do nothing – ‘after all it moved every day’. Sounds like a common
sense solution – except it is parked on a
yellow line True
the yellow line is fading --- and might be ‘old’ --- but I am assured that it
still legally means ‘no parking’ unless painted over --- normally none of
this matters as we haven’t had bylaw officers until recently (job not filled
for $$ reasons) |

Revenue Source? |
|
Several
years ago city looking to increase revenue rather than increase taxes – it was
suggested having boaters that leave trucks and trailers along road could be
charged – the charter boat & recreation fishers protested so the plan was
dropped, instead they started charging fees at the recreation center gym etc This
Alberta licensed trailer has apparently not moved in several weeks.
Presumably his boat is at yacht club. |

Parked for weeks at time – why not? |
|
True
the fellow on left only there about a week I
see others from Washington and Alberta who have been parked there longer Perhaps
he would argue there are no signs along this stretch --- thus condoned by
city that visitors can park here indefinitely |

Junk yard or City parking lot?
|
|
This
is Cow Bay parking lot; the car has been there for weeks parked behind the
garbage bins --- looks to be a junker that left for city to haul away. In same lot
is a boat trailer with no licence plates I
note that maybe 10% of the boat trailers parked in lots and road do not have
valid license plates on any given day |
