Is
old DQ building structurally sound? ‘Unsightly
premises Bylaw -- #2709 Why
fire & RCMP get free Recreation passes (and you don’t) |
|
|
Green Apple
got shut down |
|
This
support has been missing most the winter Sure
no one is using the restaurant on street level – but cars look like they can
park on that corner of building at 2nd level (Update
on Green Apple and Council Thursday & Friday) previous
Green Apple – where Council gives
45 days |

Unsightly
premises |
|
The
fellow who dared complain about his
neighbors feeding feral cats – was served with a Bylaw infraction based upon
complaints by said neighbors for ‘unsightly premises’ ---‘it is an offence to
allow property to become or remain unsightly’ quoting the Community Charter
and Bylaw No 2709 --- Like I said before – the van belongs to Port and the
‘bus’ looks like type used to carry freight to airport etc --- But
then these people are not like you and I – but ‘important’ (probably get free
swim passes too) |
|
Life’s
little ironies --- Recreation Center asking for donations from community so
children etc can make use of the Recreation facilities as many are too poor
to pay without charity
This
brochure suggests donations of $5,000 Previous email story here with links on right

Update from
Recreation Department |
|
Excerpt
from email explaining ‘rationale’ for free swim passes etc (my
emphasis added) Passes were issued to all officers of the fire
department though only a handful have been activated. To verify officer status, I had asked both the firehall
and the RCMP chiefs to provide me with a list of fulltime officers in
advance. The firehall provided a list and passes were created for each member. Due to a transition between Inspectors,
the RCMP did not so I have had to verify by phone each RCMP officer as they
registered. Passes before they are
activated in person through a registration procedure, have no value. A total of 14 passes have been activated. Physical fitness is
a job requirement of both the Firehall and the RCMP. Providing a facility for the maintenance
of physical fitness is simply a tool for the trade, much like providing
protective clothing, firearms and other equipment. When an employer requires a level of fitness for a job, it is my opinion that it
becomes incumbent on the employer to provide the tools or the training
needed to meet the requirement. As such, I view this as a job requirement and not a personal
benefit. |

I
like the contrast between 2 sides --- the lower image is north facing side – the
upper is South facing (and presumably sunnier side) – Along the green dotted
line are numerous areas of small green algae – the yellow dotted line appears
almost ‘cleared’ (I suspect molluscs grazers) Anyone
‘investigating’ this area should wash hands as potential for some sewage
leaking through cracks etc More
later – see last years pages – links at bottom this page—and this
page for last year look at North vs South |
