KOONA— House 6 ‘Rainbow House’ frontal pole

Eagle Clan The “Rainbow” house frontal pole is appropriate for Prince Rupert (‘the city of rainbows’. And is located downtown on Fulton near 3^rd. It may even be a Tsimshian crest. Koona was closely linked (trade, marriages) to Kitkatla. This Eagle pole was brought here in 1935. Unlike the other 2 Koona poles in Rupert it had a portal hole originally. Other than that the pole looks like a good copy

Black Whale: lower figure

Killer Whale? According to Smyly this is not a Killer Whale (a Raven crest), but a baleen whale (an Eagle crest), MacDonald considers it a killer whale with an empty hole in its stomach.

Rainbow 2^nd figure

Tca-Maos Perhaps these 2 figures should be treated together. Rainbow on left and Tca_Maos or supernatural snag on right. That is the pole or snag (not potlatch rings) Note the general similarity to “Sea Grizzly” another of snags forms. Note too Eagles claws in Snag’s ear These are both Raven Crests according to Smyly and thus may have belonged to the wife

While this looks like a typical Eagle, MacDonald suggests Cormorant without any comment.
