Council secrecy In the good old days (Before Kumar) one could
get the ‘council package’ Monday afternoon. Before Kumar one could read what was going to
be discussed But some inconsiderate Citizens were voicing
opinions even before Council had a chanced to offer its august views. Now we can’t have ‘outside’ influence acting
on our elected reps – no sir

The City Manger Reads and recommends
|
In the good
old days (before Kumar) Council would go thru the correspondence item
by item |
On Civil Liability and “individual responsibility |
|
Presumably the City Manager reads the correspondence; researches the topic and gives council the alternatives. Kumar found nothing amiss with the New Era attempt to re-write civil liability laws in BC. Saves the city $$ --- case closed. But no less than the Ombudsman’s office found issues to question as did the Trial lawyers of BC. A simple WWW search would have found all this. But Kumar opinions (not PR citizens) are all that counts And it may save $$$
--- so what if a few ‘victims’ must pay. |
On Liquor lawsInsurance
policies and the MIA |
Never got in the meeting BUT!!!
|
|
There was an item
in the package where local liquor license holders – mainly the Hotels asked
the City for clarification on how insurance was handled for “special
occasions” presumably when city facilities used by a non profit and ‘liquor
is consumed’. The correspondence was condescending as the City explained its
position But the MIA (our insurers)
did
not seem to agree – even non alcoholic functions seem to need their own
insurance --- embarrassing you say? |
