Who is not listening??

Paddy Greene is giving his impression of Treaty Negotiations input sessions but it could be city council too—

See no evil hear no evil – everything is fine with PR. Meeting adjourned”.

.In a town with about half 1st Nations, it is hard to see why Paddy feels so electorally  “secure” that he can be so blatantly anti-native.

“Mr. Eidsvick is totally correct” says Paddy

----“federal statements to municipal governments on the most fundamental matters about the fishery component of claims negotiations display a constant pattern of deceit and misinformation. We expect that similar problems exist in all aspects of claims negotiations. Our purpose is to advise your Council to exercise great caution when reviewing statements by senior government representatives concerning BC claims negotiations.”

3.--Correspondence from BC Fisheries  Survival Coalition regarding Senior Government Misinformation on Aboriginal Claims.

Council Watch  August 12th meeting

Is Paddy Racist?

Is this City Council relevant?

(another meeting when the correspondences was about all they could find to discuss – except to strongly deny they had ever agreed with Fresh Start initiative)

Presentation from Charlene Pettit regarding Municipal Drug Strategy

See Below for links etc

1.         Correspondence from District of Kitimat regarding Alcan Power Sales

7.         Correspondence from Andy Burton, MP office regarding proposed boundaries for a new federal riding of Skeena-Chilcotin

ALCAN & NW BC

Kennedy was diplomatic

While most of Council members seemed to have heard Kitimat’s Mayor Wozney concerns about Alcan’s changing role in NW BC they still thought his presentation merited asking him to a Council meeting. Paul said let’s be fair and invite Alcan too

The document sent to Council is on the WWW

CONCLUSION

1. Alcan is now in a position whereby it would be contrary to shareholder value for the firm to invest in aluminum in BC.

2. It is contrary to Alcan’s shareholder value to remain in aluminum production in BC.

3. Alcan will therefore minimize aluminum production in BC and maximize power sales, subject to legal and contractual constraints.

The Alcan story: changing roles form Jobs to Power exporter?

See also the Kitimat District web site where almost daily inputs on this topic

New federal election boundaries??

The Problem is present Skeena riding has too few people

Population: 77,720   Provincial quotient: 108,548   Deviation from provincial quotient: -28.40%

Paddy spouted off: “it’s obviously (the work of) some fool in Ottawa”—etc

BC Commissioners fools?? A supreme court judge and 2 senior academics with wide experience in demography and elections etc.  Who is foolish?

For Input at PR public meeting one must make application by September 12th. Meeting on 26th

Councilor Rudolph is looking to have a “cat bylaw” in place and wants staff to investigate.

And while councilor Stevens was mute on Treaty “deceit” he wanted the public (again) to be aware that as an SCI employee he had nothing to do with any decisions council may or may not have made “unanimously”

I wasn’t in the room!!!

Mayor Scott – who was the source of the Fresh Start “unanimous” agreement was again absent,

And the Basso amendments were postponed yet again “to work out details with the proponent”
